Plimouth Plantation

Last Friday we visited Plimouth Plantation. It was very interesting to visit the Pilgrim and Wampanoag Villages. Everyone learned so much. This was a field trip we will never forget!

Hi everyone,

Here are some of the activities from October and November! We had a very busy two months.

Here are some pictures of the kids working in centers. We work in centers Tuesday - Friday most weeks.

Unity Day was a day where everyone in the school wore orange!

We were so lucky to have Mrs. Mullen and Mrs. O'Shea come in and do a Halloween craft with us. Everyone had so much fun!

Native American Perspectives came to visit our 3rd Grade classes in November. We learned a lot about Native Americans all over the country. Everyone got to sit in a real Teepee too!!!

Working on small moment personal narratives!

Election Day for the 3rd Grade! Everyone got to cast their votes in a ballot box.

Welcome Back to School!

We have had a very busy start to the new school year. Everyone came into 3rd Grade with big smiles! We started reading our first read aloud "Judy Moody Was in a Mood, Not a Good Mood, a Bad Mood". The class found themselves laughing  a lot, while I read this story. It's a funny book about a girl "Judy Moody" starting 3rd grade.
We also started some grammar and cursive lessons. Everyone really enjoys writing in cursive.
We have played some fun team work games, such as the "ball game". This is everyone's favorite!
Math has begun with the class learning how to round numbers and different ways to add three digit numbers. We have also started playing some math games that reinforce these skills.
Mrs. Piericles has started teaching some science lessons. We are watching our seedlings grow everyday!
The class has also started studying Massachusetts. We learned some of the state symbols and are currently working on making a poster of them.

Here are some pictures of some other activities that we have done the first few days of school...

Election Day Workout

Since voters were voting in the gym, class was held in the science lab! The class still had fun though getting in a good workout with some fun music.
Moose Hill Field Trip

Today we went back in time and learned about how the Native Americans started collecting sap from maple trees. Then we learned how sap was made into syrup during the colonial times. We also got to learn how it is done today. We went into a sweet smelling sugar shack and even got to taste some Moose Hill Syrup! It was very sweet! Even though the weather was a little cold we all had fun! A special thank you to Mrs. Thoren and Mrs. Campbell who braved the cold weather with us! Here are some pictures from our trip.

Have been having a lot of fun in third grade lately! Recently we learned all about Benjamin Franklin and even got to meet him (sort of). We learned about what he was like as a boy, and as an adult. We learned about some of the things he invented too. Here are some pictures from our PTO funded experience.
